What we collect
1. Email address
When you subscribe to The Exceptional OS newsletter, your email is collected by Beehiiv, our email service provider. Beehiiv also collects your IP address and browser metadata at the moment of signup.
2. Name and email
When you book a call via Calendly, you provide a name and email. Calendly handles the booking and stores it on their infrastructure.
3. Payment information
If you purchase the Future-State Audit or any consulting service, payment is processed by Stripe. We never see, store, or transmit your card details. Stripe handles all of that.
4. Site analytics
We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to count page visits in aggregate. Cloudflare Web Analytics is cookie-free and does not track individuals.
5. Direct correspondence
If you reply to a newsletter, fill out a form, or email us, we receive whatever you choose to send.
What we don't collect
- We don't run ads, retargeting pixels, or tracking scripts beyond Cloudflare Analytics.
- We don't sell your data to anyone.
- We don't use cookies for tracking. Beehiiv may set cookies when you interact with their subscription form; that's their domain.
How we use what we collect
- Email: to deliver the newsletter and any directly requested communications. We never email you for unrelated purposes.
- Booking info: to schedule and conduct calls you've requested.
- Payment info: processed by Stripe to complete transactions.
- Analytics: to understand which pages people read and improve the site.
Who we share with
We use these sub-processors. Each handles only what's necessary for their function:

We do not share your data with anyone else.
Your rights
Regardless of where you live, you can:
- Access the data we hold about you.
- Correct anything that's wrong.
- Delete your data. For the newsletter, unsubscribe is the fastest path: one click in any newsletter footer.
- Export your data in a portable format.
- Object to specific uses.
Email us at iulian@mekanys.com with the request. We respond within 30 days.
Residents of the EU have rights under GDPR. Residents of California have rights under CCPA. Residents of Quebec have rights under Law 25. Residents of Canada more broadly have rights under PIPEDA. All those rights are honored. The request process is the same email.
Data retention
- Newsletter subscribers: until you unsubscribe, then 30 days for compliance archival.
- Booking records: 2 years.
- Payment records: 7 years (Canadian tax requirements).
- Analytics: 6 months in aggregate; never tied to individuals.
International transfers
Beehiiv, Stripe, Cloudflare, and Calendly operate globally. Your data may be processed in the US or other jurisdictions. Each provider has appropriate safeguards in place (Standard Contractual Clauses for EU transfers, etc.).
Children
This site is intended for adult professionals. We don't knowingly collect data from anyone under 16. If we discover we have, we delete it.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes meaningfully, we'll note it in the next newsletter edition and update the date at the top of this page.
