The middle is the hardest place to build a company.
Past the scrappy founder stage. Not yet the well-resourced exec stage. Fifteen to a hundred and fifty people on the team, half of them hired in the last eighteen months. Every tool you bought to fix the chaos made it slightly worse.
I have spent fifteen years on the inside of that exact problem. 300+ implementations. 20+ global companies. The first system I built was a 2.5-hour bank loan process in Chișinău. I cut it to 15 minutes. Years after I left, they were still using it. That felt good, and it set the pattern.
What I learned, slowly and expensively: tools do not fix companies. Process does. Sometimes the answer is the system you already own. Sometimes it is two fewer tools, not one more. The brave answer is almost never the new tool.
